Sandstar-Astrospecten irregularis
The Sandstar or Astrospecten irregularis is a fairly common animal but not often observed due to its habit of burrowing under sand and mud. Up to 12cms across, it is rather stiff in consistency and easily recognized by the small spines which fringe the whole animal.
